WINE DESCRIPTORS

ABOUT THE WINERY: MONTE PIO
Casa Monte Pio was founded in 1979 by Jose Salnés María Martinez; now his grandson Pablo Martinez carries the family tradition as the owner and winemaker. Pablo’s passion lies in the vineyard – he realized this after a brief career in accounting. Upon his return to the wine industry, he has dedicated himself to organic viticulture and craft wine production. His vineyards are located within walking distance to their family home, located in the heart of the Val do Salnés near the Rio Umia. “We are conscious that the secret of a good wine is in the soil. To make the most out of our native varieties and to obtain the best grapes, each harvest we interpret the vineyards in a different way, considering each vine like an individual and living being. For these reason, we focus most of our effort working on the vineyard, because after all, what defines a wine is all the work behind a bottle. For us, our wines are the result of the hallmarks of our history, where the ground and the grapes reach their uttermost expression.” – Pablo Martinez

CRITIC'S NOTES
Come and dive in the Mediterranean ocean on a warm day! This wine is all you can expect from a perfect and relaxing day in the French riviera. Friendly, fun, full of flavor and refreshing. The bright acidity is very well balanced with the sweet flavors of the red cherries, plums and juicy apples, a hint of white roses and quince to complete this delicious wine.Even so, it is a light wine perfect for chilling in the balcony or at the pool. I was very surprised by the length in the palate, very food friendly can pair with varied dishes. Try salads, grilled fish, sushi, chicken or pizza! All pairs are perfect with this rose. Then take a bottle and just enjoy!

OUR SOMELIER REVIEW
Cheers to life by the ocean.
Usually when you drink an Albariño you know it will be fresh, light, a little salty and fruity, but sometimes you crush a bottle like this and you realize Albariño has so much to offer. In addition to the mouth watery sensation you get a beautiful complexity of aromas and flavors, like pineapple, lemon, stone fruit, melon, apples and, of course, the salinity of the ocean in harmony with the lees aging, giving a deep and fresh sensation in the palate, lively acidity and persistent final. This wine is a must get to surprise your guest or yourself. My advice is to buy all the shellfish you can and make a festival, oysters Rockefeller, mussels cooked with white wine and herbs, grilled prawns, crab croquettes and so on!
The nose is fresh and complex with blackberries, black cherries, liquorice, coffee, pipe smoke, dry leaf, green bell pepper and the finish of vanilla and caramel.
The tannins are intense and the acidity super refreshing. The flavors persist in the palate and invite you to have more!
This wine claims to be a steak with roasted sweet potatoes and arugula salad with candied walnuts and cranberries. You like simpler, grab a cheese burger with truffle fries or a lasagna.
