WINE DESCRIPTORS

ABOUT THE WINERY: VISTA FLORES ESTATE
Our vineyard sites in La Consulta and Vista Flores are considered the best terroir in the Valle de Uco – some 70 miles south of the city of Mendoza. The three regions account for less than 10% of all the wines produced in Mendoza. Our oldest Malbec vineyards were planted 45-60 years ago. These old vines yield intense wines of saturated deep purple with a production of less than 2.25 tons an acre. The extreme difference in day and night time (diurnal) temperature produce an incredible concentration of dark currant, plum and blueberry flavors that are not found in other sub regions of Mendoza. The vineyard sites are planted at 3,400 feet and look up at the Andes peaks above 22,000 feet.

OUR SOMELIER REVIEW
Some wines seem so simple when you look at the bottle, normal, nice and sober label, then, you read and think: ok, this must be the good stuff. It comes from Altamira in the Uco Valley, nice blend of grapes and a 24-month soak in oak, looks perfect to give it give a try. And then, a big smile appears on your face!
This wine is so elegant, complex, and at the same time so easy to drink. For me, that’s the perfect wine.
I invite you to open a bottle and close your eyes. This wine has so many aromas, you need to search in your brain, but everything is there! From eucalyptus, fennel, and licorice to the the Petit Verdot, herbal and red fruits from the cabernet franc, and the delicious fig, kirsch and black fruits from the malbec, and then, to finish, all the nuances from the oak and bottle age! It seems to good to be true.
And if you don’t smell everything, it does not matter, just take a big sip and enjoy the silkiness and roundness of this amazing wine. And the best part is… you won’t break the bank enjoying it!
So, if you’ll excuse me, I am going to grab my bottle and have a big plate of lamb ravioli with fire roasted tomato sauce. Cheers!
CRITIC'S NOTES
Concentrated berry and plum aromas are potent. In the mouth, this blend of Malbec, Petit Verdot and Cab Franc is massive but also abrasive and narrowing due to fierce tannins. Giant raspberry and blackberry flavors include chocolate and coffee notes. It settles on the finish but remains scratchy out the back door.
